2025 IFQM Symposium Directed Towards Reinforcing Small-scale Businesses

In the heart of New Delhi, the second annual Indian Foundation for Quality Management (IFQM) Symposium took place, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India. The event, moderated by Mr. Jacques Esculier, was attended by government leaders, global experts, industry champions, and academia.

The IFQM, founded in 2023, is a committed institute aimed at promoting transformative changes across Indian industries, institutionalizing a culture of quality, and elevating the perception about Brand India. Its Governing Council, consisting of top industry captains such as Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Mr. Dilip Sanghvi, Ms. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, and others, is a testament to its influence.

During the symposium, a Fireside Chat was held where industry experts discussed leading in a Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, and Incomprehensible (BANI) Environment. The focus was on adaptability, empathy, and purpose-driven clarity.

Dr. Hans-Joachim Neumann, Executive Vice President and Head of Integrated Supply Chain at Merck Electronics, emphasized India's role in Integrating Quality and Innovation for Excellence in Manufacturing. The discussion also touched upon India's strong opportunity in global supply chain management, a point reiterated by speakers including Mr. TV Narendran, Dr. Randhir Thakur, Mr. KN Radhakrishnan, Mr. Salil Gupte, and Mr. R Mukundan.

IFQM's initiatives support India's journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, with an emphasis on innovation, excellence, and stakeholder engagement across sectors. The organisation has been supported by industry partners such as Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Larsen & Toubro for their transformation journeys so far.

In addition to the symposium, IFQM has developed digital tools aimed at the requirements of MSMEs, keeping Quality, Productivity & Skill in mind. These tools are part of a strong suite of 60+ Experiential Learning Solutions based on Action Learning principles.

Three MSME Clusters have already started functioning, and four more are on the anvil, aiming to increase to 100 MSME companies joining by the end of the fiscal year. IFQM is also planning to inaugurate the IFQM Academy near Bangalore airport in FY 2026-27.
