2025's Northern Air Quality Gathering

The Air Quality News (AQN) Northern conference is set to return to Manchester's Bridgewater Hall on Thursday, 25 March 2025. This highly anticipated event will bring together policymakers and academics working on air pollution and clean air provision, as well as showcasing organisations offering solutions to air quality challenges.

The confirmed speakers for this year's conference include Professor Greg Marsden from the University of Leeds, who will be presenting insights from the Infuze project on sustainable transport and cleaner city environments. Professor Marsden, who has been working at the University of Leeds since 2003, currently holds the position of Professor of Transport Governance at the Institute for Transport Studies, a position he has held since 2012.

Beverley Nielsen from Worcester County Council, who opened the conference and acted as chair, was also among the speakers at the previous event held in 2021.

The grassroots network Mums for Lungs, which raises awareness about the impact of air pollution on children's health, will also be profiled at the conference. Founded in 2017 in London, Mums for Lungs expanded into Greater Manchester last year. Liz Godfrey, who currently serves as the Coordinator for Mums for Lungs in Greater Manchester, has a background in primary school teaching and youth engagement projects. Prior to joining Mums for Lungs, Liz worked at Global Action Plan.

AQN is also in the process of acquiring air quality experts for a traditional panel session. More information about the speakers and the agenda for the conference will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Northern conference by Air Quality News (AQN) has a history of success, with this being its fifth instalment and the second time it will be held at Bridgewater Hall. The event offers a unique opportunity for professionals, policymakers, and academics to share knowledge, discuss challenges, and explore solutions related to air quality and clean air provision.
