August saw the introduction of instant deposits and withdrawals for the South African Rand (ZAR), offering swift payments and secure deposits via Instant EFT. Moreover, in October 2022, a fiat gateway for the Nigerian Naira was launched via Cashlink, allowing for direct withdrawals and deposits within African wallets.

With new hires such as Nadeem Anjarwalla, East Africa Regional Director, and Hannes Wessels, South Africa Regional Director, the Africa team has more than doubled in size, demonstrating Binance's undeniable focus on the region and its crypto-forward mindset.

In collaboration with Utiva, the Binance Charity x Utiva Scholarship Initiative aims to educate 50,000 young Africans in technology and provide scholarships for 1,000 Africans in an intensive skill training program to build a path for economic prosperity on the continent.

CZ's meetings with Alassane Dramane Ouattara, President of Ivory Coast, and Macky Sall, President of Senegal, outlined regulatory frameworks, fostering international cooperation.

Recent security workshop plans for 2023 and Binance's participation in the 9th Africa Working Group Meeting on Cybercrime are testaments to the company's leadership in tackling cybercrime. The company has also established its Global Advisory Board (GAB) to address regulatory and compliance challenges, with Ibukun Awosika and Leslie Maasdorp representing Africa on the board.

Binance has bolstered its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) to US$1B and launched its Industry Recovery Fund, securing the industry and protecting users alike. Additionally, Binance released its Proof of Reserves (PoR) System, enabling users to verify Binance's holding of client funds in full. This new site showcases the reserve ratio alongside customer liabilities, providing transparency and accountability.
