AI chatbot deployment expands across Brandenburg's educational institutions - AI chatbot deployment expands to school system in Brandenburg
Brandenburg is set to embrace digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) in its education sector, as the Ministry of Education in Potsdam announces the introduction of the AI chatbot "Telli" in all public schools across the state.
From the 2025/2026 school year, "Telli" will be available for use, making Brandenburg the second federal state, after Bremen, to introduce a chatbot interface across all schools. The chatbot, developed as a joint project between various federal states, is compliant with data protection regulations and is designed to support teachers in lesson planning and can be used by students for learning.
Education Minister Steffen Freiberg (SPD) stated that digitalization and AI are part of a societal megatrend in the education sector. He further explained that "Telli" will be used to set up learning scenarios for lessons and create worksheets, aiming to facilitate a more interactive and engaging learning experience for students.
The AI application, named "Telli", had initially been tested at 25 schools in Brandenburg. The results showed promising potential, leading to the decision to roll out the chatbot across all public schools in the state.
"Telli" is connected to various language models, making it accessible to students of different linguistic backgrounds. The chatbot is also intended to support teachers in creating parent letters, streamlining communication between schools and parents.
The AI chatbot, "Telli", is part of a larger project involving other German federal states, including Berlin and Saxony. This collaboration aims to foster a more cohesive approach to digital education across Germany.
As Brandenburg prepares for the introduction of "Telli", teachers and students are eagerly anticipating the benefits this innovative technology will bring to the classroom. The chatbot is set to revolutionize the learning experience, making education more interactive, engaging, and accessible for all.
