The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election is gearing up for September 9, 2025, with seven aspirants collecting nomination forms for key positions. The confirmation was given to our website this afternoon on 12 August.

The nomination process is ongoing, with the Ducsu Chief Returning Officer Mohammad Jasim Uddin confirming the collection of forms. Two aspirants have collected nomination forms for the vice-president post, while five have vied for member positions.

Among the contenders are candidates from various student organizations, with panels announced by major groups such as Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Islami Chhatra Shibir, leftist student organizations, and others. JCD has announced a full panel led by candidates named Abid and Hamim. Other groups like BGCS and leftist student organizations have also submitted their candidate lists.

Islami Chhatra Andolon, synonymous with Jamaat-e-Islami's student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, has announced their lineup for the DUCSU election. Although specific names have not been detailed in the summarized sources, their announcement positions them as one of the key contenders in the election.

The election is set against a backdrop of significant recent political changes on campus and country-wide, with new student activists coming into play after the mass uprising that ended the former government’s 16-year rule.

Nomination forms can be collected from the chief returning officer's office on the third floor of the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building between 10am and 4pm. Completed nomination forms for the Ducsu election must be submitted by 3pm on 18 August.

It is important to note that the location for collecting and submitting nomination forms for the hall unions has yet to be specified. Hall union nomination forms must be collected and submitted to the respective hall's returning officer within the same timeframe.

The final candidate list for the DUCSU election will be published on August 25, providing a clearer picture of the contenders for each position. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
