Astana's Professional College Booms, Training More Auto Electricians

The Professional Technical College of the Akimat of Astana, established in 2009, has seen a surge in demand, currently hosting nearly 900 students despite its designed capacity of 300. This growth reflects the increasing need for skilled professionals in working professions.

The college has partnered with about 40 enterprises through contracts that facilitate student training and potential employment. Annually, it graduates around 100 to 150 specialists in 11 specialties and 16 qualifications. Recently, the Nur-Sultan district held a meeting between college representatives and transport maintenance enterprise delegates. Alya Absemetova, deputy akim of the district, stressed the importance of retaining graduates in their chosen professions.

The college's director, Rimma Imangazinova, highlighted its unique status as the only institution in Astana specializing in transport repair and maintenance specialists. Training lasts three years, with 60% of the time dedicated to practical work on enterprises from the second year. Notably, the demand for auto electricians has skyrocketed, with 75 students enrolled last year instead of the planned 25. The college employs a dual system for training, combining 60% practical work on enterprises with 40% theoretical instruction in the college.

The college's growing student body, successful partnerships with enterprises, and the increasing demand for auto electricians reflect the effectiveness of its training programs. With the support of local authorities and employers, the college is well-positioned to continue producing highly skilled professionals for the transport industry.
