B-Trust Awards $1M in Grants to Boost Bitcoin Development in Underserved Regions
B-Trust, a non-profit organisation, has announced the first round of its 2025 Event and Developer Education Grants, totalling over $1 million. The grants aim to foster an inclusive, decentralised, and community-driven Bitcoin development ecosystem, particularly in underrepresented regions.
B-Trust has supported four organisations with event and developer training funds. These include TrustCon in Austria, Blockchain Summit Latam in Argentina, DevConnect Tokyo in Japan, and ChainReact in the USA. Six community-focused grants were awarded to events and conferences in underrepresented regions.
The grants programme focuses on two key areas: Developer Education Programs and Events & Conferences. Four developer education programs received funding: Summer of Bitcoin, Vinteum, Developer Education Program Long-Term Support (LTS), and B4OS. Vinteum, based in Brazil, offers Bitcoin seminars, a 12-week Dev Launchpad, and a 6-month Fellowship Program. Bitshala in India and Librería de Satoshi's B4OS in Latin America received LTS funding for sustainable growth.
Summer of Bitcoin, a global remote internship program, has seen over 40,000 applicants from 74 countries since its launch.
B-Trust's mission is to reduce geographic and economic barriers to entry for Bitcoin developers and support open-source values. The grants programme aims to empower open-source developers in the Global South and decentralise Bitcoin development.
