Bamberg's Traffic Safety Week Teaches Kids Safe Cycling, Bus & Truck Awareness
Bamberg's annual traffic safety week for elementary school children kicked off this week, with former traffic educator Klaus Fuß demonstrating bicycle handling in a parcours. The event, held from September 22 to 26, 2025, is a collaborative effort involving various local organizations and is designed to teach children from the second to the fourth grade about safe traffic behavior.
The week-long event is taking place in the parking lot behind the Brose Arena. Children have the opportunity to practice safe traffic behavior in various scenarios, including riding a bike, boarding and riding a bus, and navigating around a truck. Jana Rodriguez, a traffic educator, is teaching children how to safely board, ride, and exit a bus. Meanwhile, ADAC Nordbayern is educating children about the 'blind spot' around trucks using a yellow blanket and a truck cockpit.
One of the highlights of the event is the 'snail race' station, where children drive slowly without losing balance to win. Klaus Fuß, a former traffic educator, is demonstrating bicycle handling in a parcours to help children improve their skills. Additionally, the local theater group Chapeau Claque is performing the play 'Tiger and Bear in Road Traffic' for first graders at interested schools.
The traffic safety week is an important initiative that brings together various local organizations to educate Bamberg's elementary school children about safe traffic behavior. With a variety of engaging activities and demonstrations, the event aims to equip children with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate traffic safely.
