BKTL Wins 'Award for Exemplary Buildings' in North Rhine-Westphalia 2025

The vocational college Tecklenburger Land (BKTL) in Ibbenbüren has received the 'Award for exemplary buildings in North Rhine-Westphalia 2025'. The honour recognises the successful renovation of its existing buildings from 1958 and 1976, transforming them into a modern educational institution.

The four-year renovation process, overseen by the Building Authority of the County of Steinfurt and the architectural firm farwick+grote architects BDA urban planners, has created a modern, pedagogically valuable learning environment. The revamped college now boasts functional common rooms and bright, open learning islands.

The jury praised the sustainable approach taken, retaining the original buildings while updating their structure and concept. Carsten Rehers, Building Director of the County of Steinfurt, attributed the project's success to the harmonious cooperation between the college, the architectural firm, and the county.

BKTL joins 24 other new or renovated buildings throughout North Rhine-Westphalia in receiving this prestigious award. The ceremony will take place on 9th February 2026 in Düsseldorf, honouring the college's renovation as an outstanding example in the region.
