Laurie Guyon, coordinator for Model Schools at Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES, has been a trailblazer in online learning since the pandemic began. She recently hosted her 400th webinar, demonstrating her commitment to keeping students and staff connected and engaged.

Guyon's webinars have evolved over time. Initially, they were a necessity due to the pandemic. Now, they are a popular and effective way to reach both staff and parents. She finds that participants are more comfortable with online platforms, leading to better attendance and engagement.

Guyon incorporates formative assessments and hands-on practice during her webinars. She also uses interactive platforms like Nearpod to gather feedback and keep participants involved. Recently, she hosted a webinar for parents focused on keeping students learning all summer. This proactive approach shows her dedication to supporting learning beyond the classroom.
