Boosting Efficiency: Employing the Star Sticker Technique for Maximum Output
The Enthusiast's Beacon:
Come clean, folks. There's no denying it—I'm a sucker for shiny gold stars.
After stumbling upon Alexa Donne's video on the Star Sticker Method, I felt like a fool for not coming up with it myself earlier. Now, I want to test if this new motivational approach will be my secret weapon during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).
What's the deal, you ask?
- Grab yourself a calendar, whether it's an old-fashioned paper one or a fancy digital one you find online.
- Stock up on glittering star stickers (or any sticker that gets your blood pumping). Aim for something that excites you, like those scratch n' sniff goodies!
- Decide on the word count threshold for each star sticker. You could expect one for every 100, 500, or 1,000 words you write. Find a number that ignites your passion and is within your reach.
- Sit your tush down and write! For every X amount of words you churn out each day, award yourself a much-deserved star sticker.
As I embark on this experiment, I'll be receiving a sticker for every 500 words I pen, and I'll regularly post updates on my Instagram during NaNoWriMo to share my progress with Star Sticker Method.
Here's what I intend to get out of this little adventure:
- Higher daily word counts: Historically, I aim for 2,000 words per day during NaNoWriMo, but I'm curious to see if the allure of those star stickers can propel me even higher.
- Greater motivation: Alexa mentioned that the Star Sticker Method provided a necessary push to churn out an additional 200 or 100 words at the end of writing sessions just to snag a shiny sticker. I'm eager to tap into that enhanced drive for motivation whenever I find myself struggling.
- Surpassing the 50,000-word milestone: It's not a hard-and-fast goal, but I'd love to see if the Star Sticker Method helps me charge past the 50,000-word mark before the month's end. I've typically reached it around Thanksgiving, and I'm eager to see if this method helps me sustain the momentum.
