Children's Choir Erupts in Old Forest with Holiday Tunes: 650 Kids Sing During Winter Break
Having a Jolly Holiday at Eißendorf School - Elven Harmony at the Old Forest: Festivities kick off as Hamburg's young scholars bid adieu to their books today, marking the start of their Christmas break. This traditional seasonal celebration at the school nestled in the Old Forest begins with a ho-ho-heartwarming sing-along.
A whopping 650 children, from kindergarten to fourth grade, gathered at the sports hall to create a melody together. Each child received a red elf hat to add to the yuletide spirit, and the sports hall was brimming with parents and grandparents eager to join in the merriment.
The performance showcased eight classic Christmas tunes, from the catchy "Feliz Navidad" to the traditional "O Tannenbaum" and the touching "All Years Again". Each grade had prepared a unique piece, and some songs were shared between the students, parents, and teachers. The children were accompanied by the school principal, Andreas Wiedemann, and Adrian Troski on guitars and Hendrik Hauschild on saxophone. The icing on the cake was the enchanting performance of the teacher choir singing "It's Snowing!"
Today, there was an emotional farewell: Long-time school secretary, Maren Gerken, bid adieu, stepping into a well-deserved retirement. She stayed to enjoy her twenty and final Christmas sing-alongs, nestled among the children (photo below).
The event was broadcast live on TV, with Sat-1 airing their report at 5:30 PM in the regional program, and RTL-Nord at 6 PM.
