Alexis Dill: A Rising Star in the World of Baseball Public Relations
Alexis Dill, a 2020 graduate of Oberlin College, has made a significant mark in the world of professional baseball as the Director of Public Relations and Community Relations for the Worcester Red Sox (WooSox).
After completing her studies, Dill took on her current role with the WooSox. In this position, she manages the team's public image, fosters community engagement, and oversees communications efforts. Her work has been instrumental in promoting the baseball team effectively.
Dill's contributions to the baseball community have been recognised on numerous occasions. She participated in Ichiro Suzuki’s jersey retirement ceremony and national conferences promoting women in baseball. Her focus on community relations and grassroots baseball efforts demonstrates her strong skills in storytelling, public engagement, and advocacy within the sports environment.
Dill's education at Oberlin played a crucial role in equipping her with the robust communication abilities that have been fundamental to her professional success in sports public relations. Oberlin highlights her as a notable alumna applying her skills in a prominent regional sports organization, the WooSox.
In addition to her professional achievements, Dill represented Oberlin on a panel of eight NCAA Division III athletes at the 2019 College Sports Communicators Convention.
Dill's role model is Brooke Cooper, the first woman to lead a Red Sox franchise as general manager/executive vice president of the WooSox. She emphasises the importance of women in leadership positions, modeling a path to executive roles in sports, while also having a family if they choose.
Dill's responsibilities with the WooSox include writing press releases, drafting in-game scripts, planning ballpark entertainment, coordinating earned media, and executing pre-game ceremonies. Her dedication and hard work have earned her recognition within the organization, as she now leads a team of eight employees in the WooSox front office.
Despite her professional success, Dill's proudest accomplishment remains graduating from Oberlin College. She credits her time at the institution for providing her with the opportunities and skills necessary to achieve her dreams.
In her fourth season with the WooSox, the AAA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, Dill continues to make a significant impact on the world of baseball. This year, Janet Marie Smith, one of the inductees into the WooSox Hall of Fame, joins her in making history in the sport.
