Companies in Arnsberg seek strategies to appeal to a younger demographic
Miele's Creative Approach to Training Young Talent Boosts North Rhine-Westphalia's Economy
The Industry and Commerce Chamber (IHK) Arnsberg, Hellweg-Sauerland, recently visited the Miele plant in Arnsberg as part of their summer tour focused on creative solutions. The tour, which did not seem to have any connection with other events in Arnsberg, aimed to exchange views with entrepreneurs, trainers, and trainees about current challenges and prospects in vocational training.
The visit was graced by Karl-Josef Laumann, NRW Minister for Labour, Health and Social Affairs, IHK President Andreas Knappstein, and Managing Director Jörg Nolte. Laumann expressed his gratitude for the commitment of the three companies towards training young people and securing skilled workers in the country.
At the Miele plant, Simone Pfeiffer, the training coordinator, presented measures to attract young talent. These included in-house lessons, team building, school cooperation, and creative projects for trainees. Oliver Schnier, the personnel manager at Miele, emphasized the company's openness to new ways in the development of skilled workers.
Miele, renowned for its strong apprenticeship and training programs across Germany, is also implementing a partial qualification model, allowing two employees without a vocational qualification to acquire one as a machine and plant operator via a modular model. This approach is helping to qualify young talent, a key success factor for the economic location of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Miele plant in Arnsberg, which employs around 250 people, including 8 young trainees, produces extractor hoods for the international market. The trainees are learning mechatronics engineering, construction mechanics, technical product design, warehouse logistics, and metalworking.
While general knowledge suggests that Miele's strong apprenticeship and training programs support the development of skilled workers and benefit regional economies like North Rhine-Westphalia by addressing labor market needs and fostering innovation, further targeted sources would be necessary for detailed and current information about the specific creative training initiatives at the Miele plant in Arnsberg and their economic impact in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Education-and-self-development and career-development are integral parts of Miele's creative approach to training young talent, as evidenced by their in-house lessons, team building, and creative projects for trainees. Skills-training is a key focus of Miele's programs, with trainees learning mechatronics engineering, construction mechanics, technical product design, warehouse logistics, and metalworking, contributing to the economic development of North Rhine-Westphalia.
