Craft Guild of Chefs Expands 2020 Graduate Awards with Culinary Trip and Extended Age Limit

The Craft Guild of Chefs has announced changes to its 2020 Graduate Awards, including a culinary trip for finalists and an extended age limit. The Guild aims to reflect industry trends and encourage young chefs to participate.

Finalists in the 2020 Graduate Awards will embark on a culinary trip to Surrey, Sussex, and the South Coast. This experience will help them prepare for their final exam, which involves completing culinary challenges in front of industry experts.

The Guild has extended the age limit for both the Kitchen and Pastry Graduate Awards to 25. This change, supported by Steve Munkley, Vice-President of the Craft Guild of Chefs, aims to retain young talent in the industry. Entry is now open, and chefs can choose between the Kitchen or Pastry Exam.

Olaf Ludwig, who took over the deputy president role for the Graduate Awards in 2020, believes this change will give more young chefs the opportunity to participate. Will Torrent will lead the examiners in the Pastry Graduate Award, while Russell Bateman continues his role as Chair of Examiners.

Entry for the 2020 Graduate Awards is open until Friday 3 April 2020. Chefs can enter by completing a short form and confirming their mentor's details. The extended age limit and culinary trip aim to make the awards more accessible and beneficial for young chefs.
