This year's competition was the largest in the award's six-year history. The Gold Star Teacher program is part of Gold Star's ongoing efforts to support local educators and students.

She has been praised for going above and beyond for her students, including helping a student with speech therapy gain confidence. Her dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, with Richardson receiving a staggering 19,834 votes out of 83,000 cast, demonstrating her popularity among her community.
As the winner of the Gold Star Teacher Award, Richardson received a prize pack worth over $7,000. This included a $2,000 personal grant for her classroom and a $1,000 donation to St. Mary's School. The award is presented in partnership with The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati and celebrates the hard work and dedication of local educators like Richardson.
