Display featuring Europe, showcasing diversity and unity
The Rhein-Kreis Neuss, a district in Germany, has recently showcased its strong commitment to democratic values and European cooperation with an exhibition aimed at encouraging visitors to think about and exercise their voting rights at the upcoming European elections.
County Commissioner Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke, a staunch advocate for the European Union, emphasised the importance of reflecting on the Union and declaring support for it. According to Petrauschke, the European Union guarantees peace, freedom, security, and prosperity.
The exhibition, opened with the European anthem, features photographs created by students from the BBZ Neuss-Weingartstraße, prepared in collaboration with the European office of the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The students' works, currently on display in the atrium, were awarded a federal prize.
Johannes Quach, Melanie Rethmann, Carina Romero Soneira, Frank Weber, and Heinz Jürgen Schiffer from the BBZ contributed to the successful opening of the exhibition. County Commissioner Dieter Bullmann thanked them for making the students' works accessible to the public in the atrium of the county house in Neuss.
Felizitas Schuh-Terhardt, European coordinator of the BBZ Neuss-Weingartstraße, highlighted that the exhibition showcases deep engagement with current European themes. The County Commissioner also praised the work done in the European schools of the district.
The Rhein-Kreis Neuss has had a European coordinator for over three decades and has partnerships with the counties of Mikolów in Poland and Grandola in Portugal. The district's strong European commitment is further evidenced by the Youth County Council's two-day trip to Brussels at the beginning of the year, which deepened the understanding of the European Union among young people.

He stressed that active participation in the democratic process is crucial for preserving the democratic achievements of the European Union.
In conclusion, the Rhein-Kreis Neuss continues to demonstrate its commitment to democratic values and European cooperation through initiatives such as the current exhibition and cross-border partnerships.
