Dubai Duty Free Becomes World's First Airport Retailer to Earn Autism Certification

Dubai Duty Free has become the world's first airport retailer to earn the Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, aiming to create a free and inclusive shopping experience for autistic and sensory-sensitive customers. This initiative is part of Dubai's broader goal to become a Certified Autism Destination. Over 4,800 Dubai Duty Free employees completed specialized training to support customers with autism and other hidden disabilities, achieving a 98.76% completion rate within just 26 days. Each shift will now have an assigned 'Autism Champion' to ensure consistent support. Dubai Duty Free has introduced globally recognized practices, including the use of the sunflower symbol for discreet assistance. Frontline employees will wear sunflower pins, dedicated counters will display the symbol, and sensory kits will be available to travellers. Dubai Duty Free will serve as a strategic partner of the upcoming AccessAbilities Expo, further demonstrating its commitment to accessibility. The Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, Ramesh Cidambi, acknowledged this significant achievement. Dubai Duty Free's initiative is a step towards creating a more inclusive shopping experience for all customers, setting a new standard for airport retail and ensuring autistic and sensory-sensitive travellers can shop with confidence and comfort.
