EBMUD Provides Emergency Training on Sewage Handling
Join the 2025 Community Water Academy with EBMUD!
Awesome news for those eager to learn about the numerous aspects of water management! The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is calling out to residents and community leaders for its upcoming Community Water Academy (CWA) in 2025. Imagine gaining inside knowledge of EBMUD's water and wastewater systems!
This kick-ass program features behind-the-scenes tours, expert presentations, and interactive sessions, all designed to deepen your understanding of key topics such as water treatment, distribution, wastewater management, infrastructure investments, and EBMUD's strong commitment to diversity and equity.
Upon successful completion, you'll graduate as a Community Water Ambassador, empowered to share your knowledge with your community about water management and local environmental issues.
Program DetailsThe CWA takes place from April 2 to April 23, 2025, unfolding over five riveting sessions. Topics range from EBMUD's history and public health protections to wastewater treatment and a full-day field tour of Pardee Reservoir and other essential facilities.
- Day 1: Kickoff at Oakland - Get an overview of EBMUD's systems
- Day 2: Walnut Creek - Discuss safe drinking water and emergency preparedness
- Day 3: Back to Oakland - Explore wastewater treatment, the magic of "Poop to Power"
- Day 4: A full-day tour at Orinda - Check out Pardee Reservoir and more key facilities
- Day 5: Berkeley - Explore community and diversity commitments, and celebrate your graduation!
All sessions are free to attend, though you're responsible for arranging your transportation. Meals and refreshments will be provided complimentary.
Eligibility and ApplicationReady to dive in? Applicants must be 18 or older and reside or work within EBMUD's service or watershed areas. Community leaders, educators, non-profit staff, and government officials are warmly welcomed to apply. Space is limited, and attendance at all sessions is required.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, February 21, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Selected applicants will hear back by March 7, 2025.
