Rekindle EpiTek Merges to Redefine Skills Development in Africa
In a strategic move to strengthen their position in the digital learning market in Africa, Rekindle Learning and EpiTek have merged in a deal. Rekindle, a digital learning company founded in 2014, has acquired EpiTek, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) ed-tech startup launched in 2021, based in Cape Town.
Rekindle Learning, known for assisting organizations in Africa with performance, productivity, and people development, is now positioned as a high-impact African tech company following the merger. EpiTek, specializing in white-labeled end-to-end online education platforms, brings a unique set of capabilities to the table.
The merged companies, under the new name Rekindle EpiTek, are set to create a new learner pathway platform. This platform will allow companies to manage the entire training journey, from bite-sized, performance-driven learning, structured programs, to formal certification.
Rekindle EpiTek is designed to deliver, track, and measure learning outcomes. The platform is equipped to meet the continent's training and skills development needs at scale, aiming to address the formalized training needs of Africa's evolving workforce.
Matthew Scott, EpiTek CEO, described the deal as an exciting evolution for his company. Sally Nhlanhla, Rekindle Learning CEO, stated that the merger is about redefining skills development in Africa.
Rekindle EpiTek offers solutions for accredited and non-accredited skills development providers and work-based learning programs. The merged platform will facilitate live classrooms, AI-invigilated assessments, analytics, and reporting in one integrated system.
The headquarters of the merged company, Rekindle Learning, is now located in Berlin, Germany. Despite the geographical shift, the solution remains one designed by Africans, for Africans.
The merger is expected to expand the capabilities of the combined companies in digital learning and enterprise upskilling. Rekindle EpiTek is poised to revolutionize the digital learning landscape in Africa, providing a comprehensive solution for organizations seeking to develop their workforce effectively.
