CDU member Abraham, representing the Brandenburg constituency Elbe-Elster/Oberspreewald-Lausitz in the German Bundestag since 2021, has taken on a significant role since May 2025. He is now the Coordinator for German-Polish cross-border and neighboring society cooperation.
Abraham's diplomatic career spans over two decades. He began as part of the Preparatory Service for Higher Foreign Service from 1998 to 2000. His first role at the Federal Foreign Office was as a Referent, serving in two divisions between 2000 and 2005. He then moved to the German Embassy Sofia as a Referent for Press, Economy, Internal Politics, and Culture from 2000 to 2003.
From 2006 to 2011, Abraham served as the Deputy Head of Division at the Federal Chancellery's Department of Foreign and Security Policy. He then headed the Legal and Consular Department at the German Embassy Washington from 2011 to 2015. After returning to Germany, he led the Division for Bilateral Relations with Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, as well as Central Asia and the South Caucasus from 2015 to 2018. His most recent role before his current position was as the German Embassy Warsaw's Envoy from 2018 to 2021.
Abraham's extensive experience in diplomacy and foreign affairs has led to his appointment as the Coordinator for German-Polish cross-border and neighboring society cooperation. His knowledge of both countries and their shared history will be invaluable in fostering stronger ties between Germany and Poland.
