Faith Festival Launches to Foster Dialogue and Peacebuilding
The Secretariat's website has launched the Faith Festival, a year-long project aimed at fostering dialogues and amplifying peace-building initiatives. This initiative is part of a multi-year partnership with the Khalili Foundation, which is renowned for its international projects that use art, culture, and education to bring people together.
The launch event, attended by world-leading experts, discussed themes such as faith, youth networks, conflict resolution, and partnerships in peacebuilding. Sir David Khalili, a prominent figure from the Khalili Foundation, encouraged attendees to view faith as more than a religious concept, suggesting it's a precursor to mutual respect. Professor Michelle Scobie outlined opportunities for youth to participate in the project, including training and awards.
The festival, set to take place in 2024, aims to encourage and nurture new projects involving youth, civil society, and peacebuilding organizations. Its ultimate goal is to inspire and nurture the next generation of youth peace ambassadors. The initiative seeks to scale up results by creating a strong network and amplifying existing peace-building projects.
The Faith Festival, a collaborative effort between the Khalili Foundation and the Secretariat, is poised to make a significant impact on peacebuilding efforts. With its focus on youth engagement, dialogue, and mutual respect, the festival promises to nurture the next generation of peace ambassadors.
