Germany Marks International Day Against Prostitution with Events in Wiesbaden
Germany is marking the International Day against Prostitution on October 5, with a series of events in Wiesbaden. The city hosts an exhibition, a 24-hour fitness performance by students, and a lecture by Huschke Mau, an expert on prostitution and founder of the Ella network.
The exhibition 'Faceless - Women in Prostitution' at Kunsthaus Wiesbaden until October 26, sheds light on the challenges faced by women in prostitution. Meanwhile, students of Hochschule RheinMain will stage a 24-hour fitness performance on October 4-5, raising awareness about the issue.
On October 4, Huschke Mau will deliver a lecture in Wiesbaden. Mau, an expert on prostitution, founded the Ella network to represent the interests of women in prostitution. Her talk comes amidst concerning statistics: since 2000, at least 119 women have been murdered, and 69 have survived attempts on their lives in prostitution in Germany. Currently, six women are considered missing in prostitution.
These events in Wiesbaden aim to highlight the realities of prostitution and its impact on women. They serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for the rights and safety of women in prostitution, as Germany observes the International Day against Prostitution.
