Government grants scholarships to ten creative individuals in the cultural sector
Brandenburg Ministry of Culture Announces 2022 Work Package Scholarship Recipients
The Brandenburg Ministry of Culture has announced the ten artists who will receive financial support through the Work Package Scholarships (Arbeitsstipendien) for their continued work in literature, music, visual, and performing arts. This marks the seventh time the ministry has supported ten artists in this way.
The scholarships, which range from 2 to 6 months in duration, provide a monthly grant of approximately €1,500 to help artists focus on their creative projects without needing additional employment during the grant period. The scholarships have no age limit, making them accessible to artists at various career stages.
Minister Schüle stated that the work package scholarships are intended to enable artists to continue working freely and with curiosity and inspiration. The selection process did not involve any repetition from previous years, with the artists being chosen from a total of 182 applications. The decision for the selection of the artists was based on the quality of their previous artistic work.
The recipients of the scholarships work in a variety of fields, including dance performances, artist's books, and novels. The selection of the artists was made by expert juries appointed by Culture Minister Manja Schüle (SPD).
The total budget for the scholarships has increased by 2,000 euros compared to previous years, but it is important to note that this applies to the total budget, not to individual recipients, each of whom will still receive 10,000 euros in support.
The press release was issued by the Brandenburg Ministry of Culture, and the application periods for the scholarships are usually announced annually and depend on available budget funding. Interested artists are encouraged to keep an eye on the ministry's website for updates on the next application period.
These work grants function as a direct support mechanism for individual artistic work in the region and aim to provide artists with financial freedom to develop their work in literature, music, visual, and performing arts.

The Work Package Scholarships by the Brandenburg Ministry of Culture support artists in various fields, including education and self-development through music, as demonstrated by the recipients working on projects like novels and dance performances. The scholarships, although primarily intended for literature, music, visual, and performing arts, could be a platform for artists to also explore entertainment, possibly integrating music into their work.
The increased total budget for the scholarships may allow for future creative projects to incorporate elements of music and entertainment, providing a more diverse and engaging experience for the wider audience, thus expanding the boundaries of artistic expression in Brandenburg.
