Graduation event held at the Town Hall in The Hague for newly appointed police and administrative personnel
3,500 Graduates Receive Bachelor's Degrees from HSPV NRW
On Friday, August 29, 2025, approximately 3,500 students of the University of Police and Public Administration North Rhine-Westphalia (HSPV NRW) received their Bachelor's degrees during state-wide graduation ceremonies. Among these graduates were 188 students from the Police Service (PVD) and 97 from the Municipal Administrative Service (KVD) at the Police Hagen location.
The event, held at the Hagen City Hall, was attended by dignitaries including NRW's Interior Minister Herbert Reul. The graduation ceremony emphasized the role of these graduates in society and democracy, as they will begin service as police officers and administrative employees in various regions across North Rhine-Westphalia, supporting police work, municipal and state administration, and social insurance.
Prof. Dr. Iris Wiesner, the Vice-President of HSPV, underscored the importance of academic qualification for the graduates' future tasks. She highlighted the university's commitment to preparing students for career group 2, first entry level, in the police, state administration, municipal administration, and pension insurance.
In addition to bachelor's programs, HSPV NRW offers a master's degree program, the Master of Public Management (MPM). The university offers six bachelor's degree programs: Administrative Informatics (B.A.), State Administrative Service - General Administration (LL.B.), Police Service (B.A.), Municipal Administrative Service - General Administration (LL.B.), Municipal Administrative Service - Administrative Business Administration (B.A.), and Pension Insurance (LL.B.).
The best graduates of the year were awarded during the ceremony. The student representative, who spoke during the event, looked back on the past and ahead to the future. The graduation ceremony concluded officially after the student representative's speech.
Musical accompaniment was provided by the group "Ich und Du". Imam Turan, a representative of one of the three major religions, gave words of inspiration at the ceremony. Erik O. Schulz, the Mayor of Hagen, and Ursula Tomahogh, the Police President of Hagen, also gave greetings at the graduation ceremony.

HSPV NRW offers a dual study program for around 14,400 students across nine study locations. The university is dedicated to preparing the next generation of professionals in the fields of police, public administration, and social insurance.
