Hi-tech education institution, 'CM Rise School', in Madhya Pradesh, transitions its name to honor Lord Krishna's spiritual guide, following a name-change.

The state of Madhya Pradesh is set to rebrand its CM Rise Schools, renaming them as Sandipani Vidyalaya. This change, announced during the 'School Chale Hum' campaign, is part of a broader effort to improve the educational landscape and engage communities across the state.

The CM Rise initiative, launched in 2020, aimed to reimagine and enhance government schools, focusing on quality education and infrastructural development. The renaming to Sandipani Vidyalaya honours the name of the ancient Indian sage Sandipani Muni, a revered teacher in Hindu mythology, symbolising a commitment to traditional values and educational excellence.

The transformation from CM Rise to Sandipani Vidyalaya signifies a focus on uplifting education, restoring faith in the public education system, and fostering community engagement and development. The initiative also prioritises rural education, aligning with the government's plans for all-round rural development.

As of the current state, 274 CM Rise Schools, accommodating 2.5 lakh students, have been built. The schools are high-tech education facilities incorporating smart classes, with the objective of providing quality education.

Meanwhile, the state government in Maharashtra is planning to improve its public transport system to ensure affordable transportation for the poor. A fund of Rs 101.20 crore has been earmarked for this purpose, with the state cabinet deciding to revive the public transport system through the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

However, the opposition Congress has criticised the renaming of the schools, suggesting that the government should focus on improving infrastructure and hiring meritorious teachers instead. Congress spokesman Rajeev Saxena stated that changing the name of schools would not improve the quality of education.

The Sandipani Ashram, located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is a mythological location where Lord Krishna received his education. The renaming of the schools in honour of Lord Krishna's guru, Acharya Sandipani, further connects the initiative to the state's rich cultural heritage.

The first e-cabinet meeting in Maharashtra is expected to take place this week, where further details about the state's plans for public transport and education may be discussed.

The renaming of CM Rise Schools to Sandipani Vidyalaya reflects a transformation that prioritizes lifelong learning, aligning with the government's goals for education-and-self-development. This decision is part of a broader policy-and-legislation agenda, incorporating online-education and general-news initiatives to foster a culture of learning. The opposition Congress, however, advocates for a focus on enhancing infrastructure and attracting meritorious teachers to improve the quality of education.
