In the 2025 Financial Times MBA Rankings, Europe seizes the limelight

Europe's MBA programs are currently dominating the top 10 spots in the recent Financial Times MBA Rankings 2025. This impressive showing is due to their exceptional performance in several categories evaluated by the FT, such as carbon footprint, international students, and weighted salary.

The number of European schools in the top 10 has significantly increased this year, compared to the previous four years. Europe saw four top-10 placements in 2024, three in 2023, three in 2022, and four in 2021.

The reasons behind the rise of European MBA programs become clear when looking at the criteria used by the FT to rank schools. European programs excel in sustainability and international diversity. Surprisingly, they also deliver substantial financial returns for their alumni.

Emphasis on Sustainability

European schools perform exceptionally well in the area of sustainability. For instance, SDA Bocconi School of Management takes the first position, while Esade Business School secures the fourth position, with INSEAD ranking 17th. On the other hand, leading US universities like the Wharton School and Columbia Business School rank 65th and 67th, respectively, in sustainability.

International Diversity

Top European schools offer an exceptionally internationally diverse ecosystem. For example, ESADE boasts a 98% international student body, followed by INSEAD with 97%. Some US schools, however, have significantly lower international student ratios. For instance, Columbia Business School has 58%, as compared to ESADE's 98%.

Remarkable Financial Outcomes

Graduates from top European programs saw impressive salary growth in 2021, even surpassing results from top US programs. In terms of salary percentage increase, ESADE scored an impressive 173%, closely followed by other European universities.

In conclusion, European schools consistently place high in top rankings, mainly due to their strong track records in sustainability, international diversity, and financial outcomes.
