Initiation of Early School Hours at the Novel ALMA School
Nordhorn's ALMA School Center Unveiled After Extensive Renovation
The city of Nordhorn, Germany, has completed a significant renovation and rebuilding project on the ALMA School Center, a building that now houses the Astrid-Lindgren School and Marienschule. The renovation, which began in January 2018, has resulted in a modern and energy-efficient facility that offers improved learning environments for the students and teachers.
The largest expense in the renovation was the complete renewal of the building technology, including electronics, heating, and ventilation, which cost around 1.2 million euros. Work on the school center will continue for the next two years, with an energy-efficient renovation of the roof, walls, and windows planned.
The former Anne-Frank School at Von-Behring Street is now the home of the ALMA School Center. Prior to its transformation, the building was used as a refugee accommodation by the County of Bentheim. The school principals decided to name the new building the "ALMA School Center," an acronym that stands for Astrid-Lindgren School and Marienschule.
The renovation has provided eight general group rooms for each of the two schools, six additional group rooms, and three art, workshop, and care rooms. The new cafeteria in the ALMA School Center offers around 110 seats. Approximately 2.15 million euros have been invested in the school center so far, with an additional around 1.5 million euros provided by the city council for the ongoing work.
The move into the new classrooms took place on August 9, 2018. The renovated building is now ready to provide a conducive learning environment for the students of the Astrid-Lindgren School and Marienschule. The work on the schoolyard and the sports hall is also part of the ongoing development at the ALMA School Center.
The city of Nordhorn has shown its commitment to the education sector by investing in the renovation and rebuilding of the ALMA School Center. The renovation project is a testament to the city's dedication to providing quality education facilities for its citizens. The renovated school center is set to serve the community for many years to come.
