International Music Studios at Park University's Center for Music to Host Performance on November 14th
In an exciting turn of events, the International Center for Music (ICM) in Mission Woods, Kansas, is set to host a captivating recital concert on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. This event, part of ICM's 2024-25 season, will showcase a diverse programme of classical masterpieces, performed by a stellar lineup of string musicians.
Cellist James Farquhar will take centre stage with Max Bruch's moving "Kol Nidrei, Op. 47," while Nikita Korzukhin will mesmerise audiences with Schumann's "Fantasiestücke, Op. 73." Ben Sayevich, renowned for his virtuosity and teaching prowess, will also be in attendance, contributing to the concert's emotional depth with his acclaimed interpretations of chamber music masterpieces.
Violinists Aviv Daniel and Yuren Zhang will perform Pablo de Sarasate's "Navarra, Op. 33," and Yin-Shiuan Ting will open the concert with the first movement of Henryk Wieniawski's "Violin Concerto No. 1 in F-Sharp Minor, Op. 14." The concert will also feature performances by students of Sayevich, Veis, and Chung-Hoon Peter Chun, providing an opportunity for the next generation of classical musicians to shine.
Violist Christian dos Santos will pay tribute to the timeless romance of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with three pieces arranged by Vadim Borisovsky, while Diyorbek Nortojiev will showcase his technical prowess with David Popper's "Hungarian Rhapsody, Op. 68." Violist Victor Diaz will round off the concert with Adolphus Hailstork III's "Two Romances for Viola and Piano."
The concert will culminate with a performance by the Park Quartet (Farquhar, Mukhiddinov, dos Santos, and Turgunov), who will perform Franz Schubert's "String Quartet No. 12, D. 703."
