Students Shape the Future: The Impact of the Student Ambassadors Program
At our institution, a dedicated group of students are volunteering their time, thoughts, and voices to contribute to the development of the institution's future. This initiative, known as the Student Ambassadors program, has been an integral part of our community since 2010.
The program is staffed by a dynamic team of students, including Zach Haselow from the BFA Graphic Design program, Brandi Kamablov from the AOS Illustration program, Samantha Nelson, also from the BFA Graphic Design program, Nick Fairman in the AOS Digital Media program, Micky Jordan, Maggie Brownstone from the BFA Illustration program, and Bobbie Villarruel from the AOS Graphic Design program.
The Student Ambassadors program has proven to be a powerful force for driving institutional and community improvements. While documented examples specifically focused on universities since 2010 are somewhat limited in the provided results, there are key examples that underscore its effectiveness.
One such example is the NADI Ambassador initiative in Sabah (2025), where university students were appointed as Ambassadors after completing training. These Ambassadors delivered briefings and engaged local communities, from primary school students to entrepreneurs, to improve understanding and usage of digital services. This program, designed to be community-oriented and responsive, showcases a scalable and impactful model within higher education settings involving student participants.
Individual ambassadors have also driven institutional improvements through innovative projects. For instance, one science ambassador led a project aimed at eradicating a neglected tropical disease, demonstrating how student ambassadors can spearhead initiatives with tangible positive outcomes in scientific research and health.
Beyond direct ambassador programs, partnerships involving students have extended to international academic collaborations, such as the UK-Kazakhstan university programs. These collaborations foster educational innovation and opportunities, with nearly 6,000 Kazakh students studying abroad benefiting from such active ambassadorial and academic exchange roles.
While these examples highlight the important roles student ambassadors play in promoting institutional goals, community engagement, and innovation, broader systematic data on institutional-level improvements driven exclusively by university Student Ambassadors since 2010 is not fully detailed in the available results.
In the 2022-23 academic year, our institution is working with a new group of students in the Student Ambassadors program. These students, like their predecessors, are committed to contributing to the institution's growth and development. The institution seeks to know if they are on the right track through the Student Ambassadors program, and we encourage you to reach out with your questions or feedback by emailing education-team@our website.
