IRCC Issues 277 ITAs to PNP Candidates in First 2025 Express Entry Draw
In the first Express Entry draw of the month, held on an unspecified date in 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 277 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. To be considered, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 726 and had to have created an Express Entry profile before 3:46 p.m., Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on 24 September 2024.
This draw marks a continuation of IRCC's focus on PNP candidates this year, with previous draws targeting Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates, French-language proficiency candidates, and those in priority categories. The most recent CEC draw took place on 13 May, followed by a PNP draw on 12 May, and two category-based selections under healthcare and education categories.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) was introduced to improve the efficiency and fairness of Canada's immigration system. It uses data-driven analysis of immigrant economic outcomes and labor market integration to select skilled worker candidates most likely to succeed in the Canadian job market. Factors considered include age, work experience, education, and language skills. Since its launch in 2015, Express Entry immigrants have shown high employment rates and strong earnings, benefiting both Canada and immigrants.
So far in 2025, IRCC has issued a total of 34,717 ITAs through the Express Entry system. The latest draw brings the total number of ITAs issued in 2025 to 34,994. With a CRS score requirement of 726, this draw continues IRCC's trend of inviting candidates with higher CRS scores, reflecting the competitive nature of Canada's immigration system.
