Kalonzo vows not to switch political allegiances and align with Ruto

Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper Democratic Movement, has unequivocally stated that he will not be joining President William Ruto's government. In a series of statements, Musyoka has outlined his reasons for refusing to work with the current administration.

Musyoka's political allegiance remains firmly with the opposition, viewing his opposition as a matter of principle rather than personal. He believes that the direction Kenya is taking under Ruto's leadership requires scrutiny and accountability, and he aims to challenge the President in the 2027 General Election.

The Wiper Party leader has dismissed reports suggesting he is warming up to President Ruto, reiterating his stance that he is not interested in joining or collaborating with Ruto's government. Musyoka has also criticized members of Ruto's government, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, over past events and public statements, reflecting his broader dissatisfaction with the government's actions and policies.

In a show of unity, Musyoka said, "This time, we shall stand firm. We are one nation, one people." He has also accused the government of infiltrating peaceful demonstrations with hired goons and then blaming the opposition. Musyoka has also condemned any attempts to profile the Kikuyu or any other community.

Musyoka has recalled his unwavering support for Raila Odinga in the 2013, 2017, and 2022 elections. However, he has expressed regret that Raila "abandoned the liberation struggle". He has also questioned the motive behind President Ruto's attempts to win over opposition figures, citing Raila's current predicament as a cautionary tale.

Musyoka suggested that respected figures such as those from the African Union could facilitate national dialogue. He has also stated that if there ever comes a time for genuine national dialogue, it should be facilitated by neutral arbiters, not President Ruto. Musyoka has also denied being in talks with allies of President Ruto about joining the government.

In a recent statement, Musyoka said there was deliberate targeting and profiling of businesses in Nairobi owned by members of the Mt Kenya community to incite conflict. He has reaffirmed his commitment to standing with the Kenyan people and has stated that he is not prepared to be labeled a traitor.

In conclusion, Kalonzo Musyoka's stance against President William Ruto's government is rooted in his opposition to Ruto's leadership and policies, his commitment to the opposition, and his ambitions for the 2027 election. He remains adamant about not joining the Kenya Kwanza government, calling recent coup allegations "careless".
