Kazakh Youth Restore 'Tulgar Tugu' Memorial, Connecting with History
The 'Tulgar Tugu' complex, a sacred symbol of national unity in Kazakhstan, recently underwent a clean-up and restoration event. The memorial, dedicated to historical figures like Otegen Batyr, Kebekbaiyshen, Nogaibai Bi, and Kenen Aзерbaev, was the focus of the Road-Relay Taza Qazaqstan event organized by the AMANAT party and its youth wing 'Zhastar Rukhy'.
The event was more than just a clean-up; it was an opportunity for local residents and youth to connect with their history. Kosherbay Abdramanuly, a local resident, expressed that the event was about learning resilience, unity, and loyalty to the land from these historical figures.
The cleaning event was also a history lesson for young people. Akerke Iskanderova, chairperson of 'Zhastar Rukhy', emphasized the importance of youth knowing about these historical figures and their achievements for the nation's future. The youth council members and local volunteers who participated in the clean-up event got a firsthand experience of this.
The event comes at a time when the government is toughening penalties for acts of vandalism. Last summer, the head of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, signed a special law developed by deputies of the Mazhilis and members of the AMANAT party faction, making it clear that desecration of monuments is seen as an attack on the historical memory of the people.
The 'Tulgar Tugu' complex, now restored and cleaned, stands as a testament to the unity and resilience of the Kazakh people. The event organized by the AMANAT party and 'Zhastar Rukhy' not only restored the memorial but also instilled a sense of national pride and historical awareness in the youth.
