Kazakhstan secured 4 medals at the Geography Olympiad held in Thailand
The International Geography Olympiad (IGeO-2025) concluded recently in Thailand, and our site is proud to report that Kazakhstan's team made a significant impact. According to the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the team won a total of four medals.
The Kazakhstan team consisted of students from various regions, including Jetisu and Atyrau. Alikhan Kalmagambetov, a 12th grader at NIS in Atyrau region, and Akjol Bolat, a 12th grader at NIS in Jetisu region, were both part of the team. Rustam Valeev, a second-year student at Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev, led the team.
Talgat Baiybussunov, a 12th grader at Nazarbayev Intellectual School (NIS) in Karaganda region, and Andrei Enbakhotov, a 10th grader at NIS in Kostanay region, also won gold medals. Abai Duyse, a winner of international and republican olympiads, was another member of the successful team.
The team's victories included two silver medals. The specific details of these silver medal winners were not available, but it's clear that the entire team worked together to achieve this impressive result.
Since 2012, Kazakh students have won a total of 16 medals at the IGeO, including five gold, four silver, and seven bronze.
