Kentucky State Police Hosts 2nd Annual Youth Academy Program
The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is set to host the second annual Youth Academy Program from July 21 to 25 at the Trooper Island Camp on Dale Hollow Lake. The week-long camp is free for participants, offering young Kentuckians aged 16 to 17 a unique opportunity to explore law enforcement as a career.
Gov. Andy Beshear has shown his support for the program, seeing it as a chance for young Kentuckians to gain firsthand experience in law enforcement. The camp will focus on developing leadership skills, physical fitness, and understanding law enforcement principles. Participants will engage in various activities such as exploring law enforcement values, team-building exercises, learning forensic techniques, understanding commercial vehicle enforcement, and gaining insight into criminal investigations.
Applications for the Youth Academy Program are now open and will close on June 10. KSP is encouraging interested young Kentuckians to apply. Last year's inaugural program graduated 23 young Kentuckians representing 17 counties across Kentucky.
The Youth Academy Program is an excellent opportunity for young Kentuckians to learn about law enforcement, develop crucial skills, and consider a career in the field. With the support of Gov. Andy Beshear and KSP, the program aims to inspire and educate the next generation of law enforcement officers.
