Park University is buzzing with activity as faculty members make strides in their respective fields, students prepare for exciting events, and the institution collaborates with various organisations.

Brian Shawver, associate provost for teaching and learning, recently co-presented at an "Exploring Current Trends in Higher Education" discussion for the Shawnee (Kan.) Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Meanwhile, Lacey Finley, Ph.D., associate professor of management and department chair, co-authored the article "Using Design Thinking to Develop a Career Development Plan SWOT Analysis."

In academic news, Park University's Board of Trustees approved the promotion and/or tenure for 11 faculty members, effective from the 2023-24 academic year. The list includes Susan Keim, Ph.D., associate professor of public administration, and Kathy Howe, Ph.D., associate professor of education.

The university is also gearing up for several events. The Symposium, a showcase of scholarly and creative work from students across all disciplines and campuses, is scheduled for April 24-25, 2023. Additionally, the health fair will offer an opportunity for nursing students to showcase their community health skills and for the community to receive pertinent health information.

Outside the university, faculty members are making their mark. Robert Kao, Ph.D., professor of economics, and Dianna Carmenaty, Ph.D., assistant professor of criminal justice administration, have been featured in media stories related to economic investigations and criminal justice matters.

The Johnson Family Lecture Series in Science at Park University will focus on exoplanets on April 24, 2023. On May 11, world-renowned ICM artist-in-residence Behzod Abduraimov will perform a solo recital at the Folly Theater in Kansas City, Mo.

The International Center for Music at Park University will host two concerts to conclude its 2022-23 season. The Parkville men's volleyball team, seeking its sixth national title, will play in Pool D against Webber International University and Ottawa University in the tournament.

Park University's Department of Nursing is hosting a community health fair on April 13, 2023, where the Platte County (Mo.) Health Department will provide free, confidential sexually transmitted infection testing.

The university's Athletics Department is also busy. Park University's Gilbert (Ariz.) Campus athletic programs will move from the California Pacific Conference to the Golden State Athletic Conference in 2024. The department is also hosting a women's networking event, Arrrgh & Arrrgh, on May 17.

Lastly, the Parkville men's volleyball team has earned the No. 4 seed in the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship Tournament. Sarah Moran, Ph.D., will present a lecture on "Strange New Worlds: Exoplanet Atmospheres Through the Eyes of the James Webb Space Telescope."
