Lower Saxony-Technikum Kicks Off 2025 Career Program for Women in Tech
The Lower Saxony-Technikum career orientation program kicked off on September 1, 2025, with 41 participants across multiple universities. This six-month program, funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Dr. Jürgen and Irmgard Ulderup Foundation, aims to attract and support female talent in technical fields.
The program began with a team-building workshop at a climbing hall, where participants got to know each other and exchanged expectations. They were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Svea Petersen, who shared her journey to becoming a professor, inspiring the group.
The program consists of a four-day-a-week internship in companies and one day a week dedicated to first-year events. Participants will also benefit from a framework program including visits to study programs, labs, and companies. Since its inception 15 years ago, over 1000 women have participated, with a high success rate: nine out of ten choose to study or train in a technical field after completing the program. This year, 41 participants are enrolled, with 13 starting in 12 companies.
The Lower Saxony-Technikum continues to make strides in attracting and supporting female talent in technical fields. With a proven track record and a comprehensive program, it is well-positioned to empower the next generation of women in STEM.
