School Offers Comprehensive Free Resources for Game Audio Learning

Our school is pleased to announce the availability of a range of free resources aimed at helping you enhance your skills in creating audio for video games. These resources, provided by our dedicated team, are accessible to all and can be found on our Free Stuff page.

To gain access, registration is required. This grants you access to a variety of free sounds, plugins, online course samples, and tutorials. Among the resources, you'll find the video demonstration by Rory Walker, a school lecturer and freelance sound designer in the gaming industry.

In the video, Rory uses Unity, a popular game design engine, and FMOD, an integrated game engine DAW, to create footsteps for video games. He sets parameters for footsteps, including gravel, sand, stone, and water, to add variation to character movement sounds. The video aims to teach the process of adding sound to games.

For those seeking a more structured learning experience, our online courses offer help in this area. Our most comprehensive offering is the BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering Degree. This course covers modules in sound design, production, mixing, mastering, and composition.

The audio for games module is part of our online Diploma courses, which also offer a free course sample for you to try out. Upon completion, you will be awarded a degree by Middlesex University.

It's important to note that while we do have a renowned sound designer, Scott Lehrer, who works on musical theater sound design, there is no information found about a person who is both a teacher at our school and a freelancer in sound design for video games, apart from Rory Walker.

In conclusion, the free resources offered by our school can help you fill your collection of music-making tools and tutorials, and our online courses can provide you with a comprehensive learning experience in creating audio for games. Visit our Free Stuff page today to start your journey!
