Microsoft's Azure AI Landing Zone Bolsters Security with New Policy Framework

Microsoft's Azure AI Landing Zone (AI ALZ) is set to benefit from a robust Policy & Compliance Framework. This move ensures security, compliance, and responsible AI for various Azure services.

The framework, powered by Azure Policy & Compliance, acts as the governance backbone of AI ALZ. It enforces consistency across diverse environments, including Azure Machine Learning, Azure API Management, and Azure Cognitive Services, among others.

Core policy categories include Networking & Access Control, Identity & Authentication, Data Protection, Monitoring & Logging, and Resource-Specific Guardrails. These categories address unique considerations for AI workloads, such as sensitive data, model accountability, and frequent updates.

Enterprise Policy as Code (EPAC) is employed to implement policies at scale. It handles deployment, lifecycle, versioning, and CI/CD automation. EPAC supports CI/CD integration and integrates with Azure Landing Zones, including governance baseline.

By implementing the Policy & Compliance Framework, Azure AI Landing Zone enhances security, compliance, cost control, and responsible AI. This move is crucial in an AI-first world, where deploying models or services without governance can pose significant risks.
