Ministry's Panel Spotlights Efficient Industrial Area Usage

A panel discussion has highlighted the successful interplay of economic needs, municipal planning, and regional coordination in efficient industrial area usage. The Ministry of Economic Development and Housing is supporting municipalities with information, financial incentives, and digital tools for better land use. This effort is part of the state government's Land Use Efficiency Action Plan, with the Fachforum 'Efficient Industrial Areas' serving as a key platform for discussion.

The latest Fachforum event was held at the Heidelberg Innovation Park, attended by municipal, business, and regional planning representatives. Minister Nicole Razavi inspected the park, showcasing how industrial development can coexist with land conservation. The forum focused on developing strategies for efficient industrial area usage, including repurposing existing areas and sustainable planning of new sites. Best practice examples were presented, such as the Heidelberg Innovation Park, the Old Tobacco Factory Area in Karlsruhe, and the Craftsmen's Courts in Weingarten. Minister Razavi emphasized the need for smart approaches to industrial growth, given the finite nature of land resources. Professor Kim Schumacher presented the 'Logist.Plus' project, demonstrating how the logistics sector can better utilize land through denser construction and multifunctional use.

The Fachforum 'Efficient Industrial Areas' has underscored the importance of efficient land use in industrial development. With the Ministry's support and best practice examples, municipalities are equipped to balance economic growth with land conservation. The next event of the forum is eagerly anticipated to build on these discussions and drive progress in this critical area.
