Müschede School's Break Hall Undergoes Major Renovation for 2026 After-School Care
Müschede primary school in Arnsberg is undergoing a significant renovation of its break hall. The project, which began during the summer holidays, aims to bring the 50-year-old structure up to modern energy, structural, and technical standards. Upon completion, the hall will serve as a dedicated space for after-school care, aligning with the 2026 legal requirement for adequate facilities in schools.
The city of Arnsberg's building management is overseeing the core renovation, with a budget of 415,000 euros. Currently, work is underway to insulate the strip foundations and install a new aluminum-glass facade. After exposing the existing structure, heating supply lines have been updated to meet current standards. In the coming days, work on the roof structure will commence, followed by floor work, with the project expected to finish by the first quarter of 2026.
The renovation is being funded through the 'Richtlinie über die Gewährung von Zuwendungen zum Ausbau ganztägiger Bildungs- und Betreuungsangebote für Kinder im Grundschulalter' (Ganztagsausbau funding guideline). Meanwhile, after-school care has been temporarily housed in the nearby parish hall since reconstruction work began about eight weeks ago.
The renovation of the Müschede primary school break hall is progressing steadily, with the aim of providing a modern, energy-efficient space for after-school care by the first quarter of 2026. The project is crucial for the school's 110 students and aligns with Arnsberg's commitment to improving educational facilities.
