New Think Tank Lab Launches to Boost German Think Tank Sector

The German think tank landscape is set to benefit from a new initiative, the Think Tank Lab. Led by Roderick Kefferpütz of MERICS and Claire Luzia Leifert of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), the lab aims to foster growth and innovation in the sector. The authors can be reached via email at [email protected] and on Twitter.

The Think Tank Lab is structured around three key pillars. The first, Community of Practice, encourages peer learning and collaboration among think tanks to tackle shared challenges. The second, Think Tank School, offers training programs to empower staff and expand their skills and networks. The third, Think Tank Toolbox, shares findings, good practices, and useful information to increase the collective impact of think tanks.

The lab is designed to address both external and internal challenges faced by think tanks, building on the authors' previous articles. It is presented as a co-creative space for engagement, learning, and community building.

Claire Luzia Leifert, Head of the Impact & Innovation Lab at DGAP, leads the Think Tank Lab. Roderick Kefferpütz, a Senior Analyst at MERICS focusing on Germany's China policy, also plays a significant role. The Think Tank Lab is poised to support the advancement of the German think tank landscape by fostering collaboration, learning, and innovation.
