Olympic marksman Kim Ye-ji introduces her distinctive presence to the Balenciaga advertisement campaign
A 32-year-old Olympic medal winner joins Romeo Beckham and singer Kim Petras in a photo shoot around Paris, posing with outdoor-lookin' couches and chairs (though they're actually from Demna Gvasalia's personal furniture collection, as mentioned in the press release).
The shoot, titled "This is a Balenciaga Campaign," was led by renowned (and occasional controversy-stirring) photographer Juergen Teller. His deadpan style aligns well with Kim's enigmatic aura of cool. As people watched Kim casually fire off shots in Paris this summer and smash a world record in Azerbaijan in an earlier video, views for the latter skyrocketed to millions.
Post-Paris, Kim has been booked for multiple fashion and acting gigs. She graced the pages of W Korea magazine for Louis Vuitton and took on a role as an assassin in "Crush," a TV series.
In the Balenciaga campaign, Kim swaps her signature black Fila outfit for a denim bomber jacket paired with ripped, thigh-high jeans in one look, and a black mini dress in another.
Kim shared with CNN in October her thoughts on her wardrobe, calling herself a "simple dresser." She typically opts for crop tops and jeans in her personal time and puts on her training or event-day team uniform.
"I dress super plain, simple. But people tell me I look good," she said.
The campaign is a joint effort between Teller and his wife and creative partner, Dovile Drizyte. Beckham poses on a white sectional in front of the Eiffel Tower, while Petras sits on blue floral upholstery on a Parisian side street. The photoshoot also features models Sua Lee, Khadim Sock, and Akolde Meen. In September, an unexpected runway debut for Beckham, David and Victoria Beckham's second son, took place for the fashion house in Paris.
