Online Job Interview Project 'Fit for the Job' a Success

The 'Fit for the Job Interview' online project, a collaboration between Berufspatenprojekt, Jugendberufshilfe, and Handwerkskammer Kassel, has successfully concluded. Despite initial technical hurdles, the initiative was deemed a success and will continue next year.

Seven vocational schools from the city and the organization participated in the project, which aimed to support young people, often with migration or refugee backgrounds, in their transition from school to jobs. Students from BÜA classes practiced job interview simulations for apprenticeships over three weeks, booking appointments with fictional companies via a booking portal for realistic interviews. The project was funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration and saw eleven experienced mentors from different fields acting as sparring partners for the students. Despite some missed appointments and initial technical difficulties, feedback and tips for further job application activities were provided after each interview.

Interested volunteers can contact Brigitte Vogler for more information about the project. The success of this year's 'Fit for the Job Interview' online training has ensured its continuation for next year.
