Partnership in financing new students for WICM GmbH, alongside IHK Wiesbaden
The WiesPaten project, an initiative that connects pupils with committed students and sponsoring companies, has recently expanded its reach with the involvement of the IHK Wiesbaden (Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce) and WICM GmbH. This student sponsorship programme aims to support young people by providing concrete guidance and mentorship, helping them develop skills and improve their future prospects through education and career orientation.
The project, which celebrated its 15th anniversary at the IHK Wiesbaden in April of this year, is founded on the principle of shared responsibility. Companies and institutions actively contribute to social engagement by supporting youth development. According to the Managing Director of IHK Wiesbaden, Sabine Meder, WiesPaten enhances equal opportunities by meeting youth at their individual stages and paths, complementing the IHK’s traditional roles in career guidance and vocational training.
WICM GmbH, a benefactor of the project, has entered into a permanent partnership with Wilhelm-Leuschner-Schule in Kostheim. Regular meetings are held between students, student teachers, and employees of the two sponsoring institutions, where knowledge transfer, academic support, and social activities are a part of the regular meetings. During the sponsorship, students received support for their final presentations.
In addition to the academic support, participating students have also enjoyed shared experiences. Last school year, they visited the RheinMain CongressCenter and the Kurhaus Wiesbaden as part of "Wiesbaden on Ice". Furthermore, students also attended the WiesPaten summer festival.
The partnership is a result of WICM GmbH's successful one-year trial phase. Simon Rottloff, WICM's deputy managing director, believes the WiesPaten project benefits both the students and the sponsoring company. He notes that the interaction offers fresh perspectives, informing the company about current youth motivations and societal changes.
The IHK Wiesbaden participates in WiesPaten to emphasize the economy's responsibility towards society and the promotion of young talent. The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden issued this press release from Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden. The Mayor and Economic Development Officer, Christiane Hinninger, finds the collaboration between companies like WICM and institutions like the IHK Wiesbaden beneficial for young people.
The IHK Wiesbaden views supporting young people as part of its DNA, and WiesPaten commitment as an important pillar. By offering personalized mentorship that boosts educational engagement and career clarity, WiesPaten strengthens the collaboration between education and industry in the Wiesbaden region, benefiting students and sponsoring companies alike.
