Private education organization, Romania Education Alliance, announces EUR 20 million initiative aimed at expanding the reach of its private school network.

Romania Education Alliance (REA), a prominent player in the private education sector, has announced ambitious plans to reshape the future of private education in Romania. The alliance, founded in 2024 by education entrepreneurs Anca and Dan Macovei Vlașceanu, with support from Morphosis Capital, aims to unite over 15 private schools under a single educational network by 2028, following a significant EUR 20 million investment [1].

David Masculic, Investment Manager at Morphosis Capital, views the initiative as a unique opportunity for education entrepreneurs, reflecting the alliance's commitment to enhancing educational quality and accessibility in the private sector [2]. The announcement marks a significant milestone for REA.

Anca Macovei Vlașceanu, CEO of Romania Education Alliance, stated that REA meets the needs of private education with a business-driven solution that empowers independent schools to grow while maintaining their identity and autonomy [3]. However, the alliance remains tight-lipped about the specifics of how the schools will be united under a single educational network.

The investment aims to build a nationwide network of high-performing independent schools, with the alliance targeting school founders and education entrepreneurs who wish to expand their campuses, improve the quality of their educational offerings, and become part of a collaborative network [4].

REA schools follow the "Stellar Education" model, which emphasizes high academic standards, modern teaching methods, collaboration, and a commitment to student success. The initiative currently includes two flagship institutions: Mark Twain International School and Little London International Academy [6].

REA plans to expand into major cities such as Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Brașov, Sibiu, and Constanța in the coming years, although the exact cities beyond these have not been specified [5]. The alliance does not disclose the specific terms of the partnership between REA and Pi2, an independent agency that has entered a strategic communications partnership with REA to support its expansion and amplify its presence [7].

In addition to growth capital, global best practices, innovative educational tools, and ongoing training for teaching staff, REA members also benefit from access to development capital, operational know-how, and ongoing professional development for their teaching staff [8]. The alliance does not specify the number of schools it aims to unite beyond the current 15.

As REA embarks on this ambitious journey, it is poised to reshape the landscape of private education in Romania, offering a unique blend of business acumen, academic leadership, and operational excellence to transform and strengthen the private education network in the country.

"The Romania Education Alliance, with its significant investment from Morphosis Capital, seeks to unite over 15 private schools under a single network by 2028, focusing on education entrepreneurs who wish to expand their businesses in the private sector, aiming for enhanced educational quality and accessibility [4 & 3]."

"This business-driven solution, as proposed by REA, intends to create a nationwide network of high-performing independent schools, targeting cities like Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Brașov, Sibiu, and Constanța, while also offering school founders and entrepreneurs innovational educational tools, professional development, and a collaborative network [4, 5 & 8]."
