Pupils at Grabower's first grade are educated on appropriate conduct while on and inside the school bus
In a recent traffic education session, classroom 1a students from Eldekinder primary school in Grabow were taught the importance of bus safety. The session, organised jointly by the local police and Verkehrsgesellschaft Ludwigslust-Parchim (VLP), aimed to ensure safe travel to and from school, with a focus on bus safety.
Police officer Sandra Hahndorf led the session, demonstrating safe crossing procedures when a bus is nearby. She also emphasised the importance of waiting until the bus has driven away before running in front of or behind it.
Thomas Busack, deputy head of the driving service at VLP, provided additional education to the first-graders. He explained the correct behaviour and important signs in the class dojo, such as the prohibition of eating, drinking, and making a fuss, as well as the danger of leaving backpacks in the aisle during an emergency brake. Using a traffic cone as an example, he showed how a heavy backpack left in the aisle could potentially hit the window and break it.
Students were also taught to board the bus at the front and disembark at the back. If a student misses their stop, they were advised to calmly approach the bus driver and inform them.
Class teacher Diane Gätcke was pleased that the police and VLP offer projects at the primary school, as it allows the students to be active and learn sustainably. The session was well-received, with the class mascots, Mimi and Mo, present and listening attentively.
Traffic education is a recurring topic at schools in the region, particularly for first-graders shortly after enrollment. The session served as a reminder for students and parents alike about the importance of bus safety and the rules that must be followed to ensure a safe journey to and from school.
