Recognition of 2022-23 Academic Achievements Held at Park University's Yearly Honors Ceremony

Park University formally acknowledged exceptional academic accomplishments from the 2022-23 academic year during the Honors Convocation that took place on April 19.

At the annual Honors Convocation held on April 19, 2023, Park University recognised a number of exceptional students, faculty, and staff members for their achievements. Here are some of the recipients and their accomplishments:

Isabela Ribeiro, a senior business administration major from São José dos Campos, Brazil, was honoured with the Outstanding Parkite Award. Ribeiro earned the Department of Finance academic honors in 2022 and served as the Park Student Government Association president in 2022-2023. She was also a two-time Park University Presidential Scholar. In addition to her academic and leadership achievements, Ribeiro was named Homecoming royalty in Fall 2021 and was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and Heart of America Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete following the 2021 and 2022 women's volleyball seasons.

Elias Eichhorn, a senior business administration/management major from Haan, Germany, was another recipient of the Outstanding Parkite Award. Eichhorn was named a Park University Presidential Scholar for three consecutive academic years. In 2022, he received the Outstanding Class Member Award and the Park University Business Faculty Award. Eichhorn was also a member of the men's soccer team and was named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and Heart of America Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete in 2021-2022 and Fall 2022. He served as secretary of the Park Student Government Association in 2021-2022 and was named Homecoming royalty in Fall 2022.

Azin Agah, Ph.D., assistant professor of chemistry, Lawrence, Kan., received the Excellence in Academic Advising Award. Brandi Handley (above right), assistant teaching professor of English, Independence, Mo., received the President's Award for Teaching Excellence.

The Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award was presented to Abhijit Mazumdar, Ph.D., assistant professor of journalism, Parkville, Mo. The Distinguished Humanities Faculty Award was presented to Elaina Michalski, assistant teaching professor of art, Liberty, Mo. The J.L. Zwingle Award was presented to Donna Jean, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry, Parkville, Mo.

The Louisa Davidson Hinde / Carolyn Hinde Zarkaryan Memorial Award was given to Manika Karki and Victoria Olaleye. A Teaching Excellence Award was given to an unspecified full-time faculty member, while another Teaching Excellence Award was given to an unspecified adjunct faculty member. Leslie McNolty, D.P.S., adjunct instructor of philosophy, Kansas City, Mo., received the Provost's Award for Teaching Excellence (for adjunct faculty).
