Scholarships to be granted by Cádiz's Municipal Council to eight students hailing from the University of Cádiz.
Tackling Global Issues, One Volunteer Project at a Time:
The Cádiz Provincial Council has teamed up with the University of Cádiz (UCA) to sponsor eight students embarking on volunteer adventures this summer. Their destinations? Countries like Bolivia, Kenya, and Mozambique.
Kicking off the program, Ana Moreno, head of International Cooperation at the Cádiz Provincial Council, warmly welcomed the participants. The event, which took place at the Provincial Palace, was also graced by Inmaculada Antolín, director of the International Cooperation Office at UCA, as reported in a note from the provincial institution.
Ana Moreno applauded the participants' dedication to this program, promising them an unforgettable experience and a scholarship from the Provincial Council to help fund their volunteer work in projects that have previously received fundings from the institution. These projects aim to alleviate poverty, foster development, and address challenges facing impoverished communities worldwide.
Particularly, students from UCA will be working under the guidance of four trusted NGOs: Fundación Madrazo, Solidaridad Internacional Andalucía, Fundación Tierra de Todos, and Asociación Siloé. The volunteers won't just be offering humanitarian aid but will also collect data on the projects to monitor their progress.
Ana Moreno expressed her gratitude for the support of the NGOs and expressed confidence that the UCA volunteers would not only apply their academic knowledge but also gain valuable life skills and personal growth. Inmaculada Antolín, for her part, thanked the Provincial Council for its collaboration and noted that it enriches the comprehensive training of UCA students, giving them real-world opportunities to apply their knowledge.
The students received specific training for this venture from Fernando Monsalve, a philosophy and education sciences graduate from the University of Seville. He is known for training volunteers in Entreculturas Sevilla, a member of the Andalusian Network of International Volunteering.
On a different note, outcomes from current sources do not reveal specific details about these volunteer projects by UC students in Bolivia, Kenya, and Mozambique. To uncover more information, one may need to turn to official UC communications or the documentation from the Cádiz Provincial Council.
