School authority to re-examine generous donation of $9,999 directed towards male mentoring initiative

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) has received a substantial donation of $9,999 from McLean-based Proxyware. The funds will be utilised specifically for the male mentoring initiatives at Patrick Henry K-8 School and Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 School.

In a staff report, ACPS stated that the donation will be employed to support these mentoring initiatives at both schools. The aim of these programmes is to build positive relationships and strengthen social emotional skills for students.

The mentoring initiative, led by Assistant Principal Jerome Graham, School Counselor Brian Nelson, and Dean of Students Andre Keys, is intended to create a caring environment for students at Patrick Henry and Jefferson-Houston schools. It also aims to provide students with experiences outside of Alexandria.

The donation, received by ACPS on Sept. 2, 20XX, is yet to be approved by the college board. As per ACPS policy, any donations exceeding $5,000 require approval from the board.

The college board will consider this donation in its upcoming meetings. If approved, the funds will be used to advance the male mentoring programs at both schools, with the goal of building positive relationships, strengthening social emotional skills, and providing students with experiences outside of Alexandria.

This donation marks a significant contribution towards the betterment of ACPS and its students. The school community expresses its gratitude to Proxyware for their generous support.
